You may notice that there have been no new posts for some time. This is because for a variety of reasons, we are giving the workshops a break. We may or we may not return, so for now this will be the last post.
We both have new ventures on the go & I will post info about them as & when.
We have been running Catalyst since 2001 & have had a great time sharing our knowledge to so many of you. Thanks enormously for your enthusiasm, friendship & creativity over the years.

Made on the Left Market

Annie has applied to have a stall at this great market. She was at the one in November and it was very successful & with a great vibe & very different customer base i.e. pub clientele along with the usual buyers. I know that they are interested in new stallholders too, so if you make your own goods for sale you can download an application here http://www.madeontheleft.com/markets.html
What I love about this market is that everything has to be designed & made in WA - not a sign of imported tat!
They also run a great blog at http://www.madeontheleft.blogspot.com with lots of info about local designers & crafty things.

In this polymer clay workshop for beginners we will be learning how to create a basic millefiori cane (similar to the technique used by lolly makers). We will then be using this cane to create 5 or more different objects and pieces of jewellery.
About Amanda
I am a Mum, Wife and Artist. I have a degree in art majoring in painting but spend much of my time on any new art-form I come across.
Current favourite creative outlets include creating original polyclay beads, jewellery and homewares, knitting, sketching in my moleskine sketchbook, working with felt, sewing and attempting to cook with my daughter. I sell my handmade creations online at http://polyclarific.etsy.com and soon will be selling prints of my sketches and paintings.
I also have a blog if you need to find out more about me: http://blogs.oddsocks.net/ahunt/

Eclectic Cutwork Panels with Annie Rawle
Workshops Details
Date - Friday 19th June 2009 - 9.30am - 3pm
Venue - Melville Guides Hall
Cost - $75 per person - booking form can be obtained by emailing Catalyst
further details and class requirements list will be emailed upon full booking & payment

In this workshop we’ll create an intriguing & intricate panel of cutwork in a geometric design. The design is then embellished with free machine embroidery & further techniques which further enhance the complex surface. The final panel is suitable for inclusion in many sewing projects such as a bag, cushion, waistcoat, book cover etc. The technique can also be adapted for use as decorative detailing on garments e.g. around a neckline, hem, pocket or belt. During the workshop I also discuss how colour & texture choices can dramatically alter the final outcome & make the piece your very own.
